Pay Per Click Advertising
At first glance Pay Per Click (PPC) looks easy right? You go to your favorite pay per click search engine Google, Yahoo, MSN, sign up, give them a few dollars and the traffic and sales starts pouring in. Unfortunately, it’s not quite that easy. A far more common story is someone who spends a ton of money, gets a bunch of traffic, but doesn’t even get enough sales to pay for the PPC campaign. And then exclaims “What Happened!!”
So, does that mean you should scratch ppc advertising off of your list of possible search engine marketing ideas? Not at all, but it is good to remember that more people lose at that game then win. Making sure you are on the winning side requires time and research. Don’t spend a dime until you have a very good idea what it is going to give you in return.

First step in a successful marketing campaign is to understand your target audience. What are they buying? Why do they buy it? What research do they do before buying? What triggers them to finally make the purchase? Some of these questions you will be able to answer using the website statistic that should come with your hosting. But for that to work requires you to start getting traffic. That is what I am going to discuss here.
What are they buying, and what research are they doing before they buy can be answered using the tools provided by the largest search engine in use Google. When you start your adwords campaign Google will give you a number of tools to help you choose the keywords you will use in your ppc search marketing campaign. Don’t skimp on the time, expect to take a couple days to read about them, do some research and then finally use them to start ppc advertising, pay per click doesn’t have to start off with a lot of money.
Google has a number of tips to help you choose what keywords would work best for your business. The Video below will help you choose the best keywords to use.
One great tool that Google has is the Keyword tool. There are a couple ways you can use this. One is to put in terms that you think people might be searching for. The tool will give you lists of words, how often they are searched, what your competition for those terms will be, and finally what you might expect to pay to show high enough for that term that you will get some clicks.
Another good way to use the tool is to check on your competitors. By adding their pages to the tool you are able to see how Google views their site. If they are successful then they have likely optimized their pages to rank well in the Google natural results as well.
Pay Per Click for beginers
Start with small bids, use the pay per click bid management software provided by Google to bid the lowest amount possible and still show high enough to get some clicks. Use relatively low daily caps at fist to give yourself time to check out your stats and compare it to your sales to see if you need to make adjustments.
Create several different pay per click ads to see which ones perform the best. Google also allows you to track these adword clicks and see if they resulted in a sale. Also, remember, while pay per click traffic can build very quickly it still takes some time to build up trends to see how the different ads perform.
In short, expect to take some time if you are wanting your ppc search marketing campaign to succeed.
