Google’s method of determining the importance of a webpage. Google uses this rank when determining the position that a webpage is returned when a searcher enters a word or phrase into the search engine.
A webpage with a higher page rank will show higher in the results of a search than a webpage with a lower page rank, when all other considerations are equal.
Page Rank is one of more that 100 items used to determine where a URL will rank in a Google search. Due to its visibility this is often one of the items new webmasters focus on when doing SEO on a site.
