Term:
Nofollow
Acronym:
-
Definition:
This is a specification that can be used as a rel= attribute. The purpose os adding this to a link is to show that you are not endorsing this link. If you link to a site that Google has deemed as “Black Hat” or in a “Bad Neighborhood”, it is possable that Google may penalize your site. Adding this attribute will allow people to click on the link and got to the site. But Google will not think that your are endorsing the site and so it will not count against your website. To use this attribute add rel="nofollow" within the ancor tag.
It is also useful to use this if you are not sure if Google might consider this a questionable site.
