Glossary Entry

Term:  Google Adsense     Acronym: -
Definition: Adsense is Google’s method of delivering context sensitive ads to your web site. After setting up an account with Google, you copy some script to each of the pages you want to add the ads to. Google will scan your webpage and deliver adds the are relevant to the page.

Google credits your account for each time a visitor to your webpage clicks on one of the ads. Sites that offer large amounts of content and do not have products to sell, work out very well with this form of advertisement. It’s good to note that different keywords will attract ads that have a different payout per click. There is a very wide variance between the lower and the higher paying keywords so it is good to watch which words pay the most and concentrate on those.

Google allows you to set up filters so that ads from specific competitors do not appear on your site. PPC or pay per click offers a Webmaster an alternative way to monetize a web site.
